Indian assembly lines for Pixel 8 pro

Google plans to begin building Pixel phones in India as early as next quarter, with the aim of increasing sales in the country's second-largest smartphone market. The company has set an ambitious goal of shipping an additional 10 million Pixel units in 2024. According to recent market data, the Indian smartphone market grew 1% last year to 146 million units, with a stronger 11% growth rate in the second half of the year. Google will reportedly start producing the Pixel 8 Pro in Indian factories during the second quarter of this year, while also maintaining production facilities in Vietnam. Diversifying away from China is seen as a positive step towards improving supply chain resilience, with Apple already producing some iPhone models in India.
