Google Chrome's AI Writing Tool: Finishing Your Sentences for You
Google has recently launched an experimental AI feature in Chrome called "Help me write," which uses Google's Gemini models to understand the context of a webpage and suggest appropriate sentences or paragraphs. This feature can be used to generate text for various purposes, such as writing reviews, customer service requests, and marketplace listings. To use the feature, users must go to the Experimental AI page in Chrome settings, highlight the text they want to rewrite, and right-click to summon the "Help me write" box. The tool is currently available only in Chrome browsers on Macs and Windows PCs in the US, and it can only understand prompts and write suggestions in the English language. While the feature can be useful for generating text quickly, Google warns users not to enter personal or sensitive information, such as medical or financial details, when using the feature. Additionally, the information entered through the feature will be sent to Google, which may use it to improve its products and services and machine-learning technologies.
