Apple's Next-Gen CarPlay: What to Expect in 2024

Apple has confirmed that the first US vehicle models with next-generation CarPlay support will debut in 2024, but did not provide a specific timeframe for availability in other countries. The company has also updated its website to reflect this change, replacing "Vehicle announcements coming in late 2023" with "First models arrive in 2024". Additionally, the first beta of iOS 17.4 references eight new CarPlay apps, and an image discovered in the beta shows a "Goodbye" screen after the driver shuts off the vehicle. Users will be able to adjust the theme and color scheme of next-generation CarPlay, including the appearance of the instrument cluster. Apple first previewed next-generation CarPlay in June 2022, and the new CarPlay will integrate deeper with a car's hardware. Only two manufacturers, Aston Martin and Porsche, have announced support for the next-generation CarPlay, with Aston Martin set to debut the system in its 2024 DB12 coupe and convertible DB12 Volante model.
