WhatsApp Backup Changes: How It Will Impact Your Google Drive Storage
In 2024, WhatsApp will begin counting backups of WhatsApp chats and media towards users' Google Drive storage quotas. This means that if a user has a lot of WhatsApp chats and media backed up, it could consume their free storage allowance of 15GB. To avoid this, users can consider investing in additional storage through Google One, a subscription plan associated with Google Drive. There are three main plans available, including monthly and annual options, with prices starting at £1.59/ $1.99 per month for 100GB of storage. Alternatively, users can be space-efficient by backing up only text messages, excluding media files.
