Scientists Prepare to Turn On Brain-Simulating Supercomputer in 2024
Researchers at Western Sydney University in Australia are collaborating with tech giants Intel and Dell to build a massive supercomputer called DeepSouth, capable of simulating neural networks at the scale of the human brain. The supercomputer is designed to mimic biological processes and consume less power than traditional supercomputers, with the goal of advancing understanding of how the brain computes and developing brain-scale computing applications in various fields. The supercomputer is expected to go online in April 2024 and will be able to process massive amounts of data at high speed while consuming much less energy than other supercomputers due to its spiking neural network approach.
