iPhone Thieves Beware: Apple's Latest iOS 17 Security Feature Is a Game Changer

Apple has introduced a new security feature called "Stolen Device Protection" to enhance the security of iPhones. This feature requires a second biometric scan (face or fingerprint) after an hour to prevent thieves from resetting the device and accessing sensitive settings. The feature is optional but recommended by Apple and will be available in the next full version of the iPhone's operating system. It uses a new mechanism called a "Security Delay" to make it harder for thieves to access sensitive settings. Under this feature, only a few settings will be locked, including changing the Apple ID password, updating account security settings, changing the iPhone passcode, turning off Find My, adding or removing Face ID or Touch ID, and turning off Stolen Device Protection itself. The feature won't require a second biometric scan if you're at a familiar location.
