Google Play Movies & TV Exit: Say Goodbye to Android TV in January 2024

Google has announced that it will be discontinuing the Google Play Movies & TV app for Android TV. The app will be completely removed on October 5, but users will still be able to access their previously purchased content on various platforms, including Android TV devices, Google TV devices, the Google TV mobile app (Android and iOS), and YouTube starting January 17, 2024. The Shop tab will serve as the new home for watching previously purchased titles on TVs and streaming devices powered by Android TV, while the YouTube app will become the new home for watching previously purchased titles on cable boxes or set-top boxes powered by Android TV. Additionally, all content purchased from Google, including active rentals, will be available on the YouTube website.
