Beeper Mini's Latest iMessage Setup Requires a Mac: What You Need to Know

Beeper, a messaging app, is set to release a new fix for its iMessage integration on Android, which will require users to have access to a Mac computer. The company is open-sourcing its full iMessage bridge and Mac code that generates registration data. The fix is expected to launch tomorrow, but it may not remain operational once launched due to Apple's past actions against Beeper. A bipartisan group of US lawmakers has asked the US Department of Justice to investigate Apple's potential anticompetitive treatment of Beeper. The new method will involve sending "registration data" from a Mac computer to authenticate iMessage connections on Android. The Beeper Mini app's developers are still working on a fix for iMessage on Android despite Apple's mitigations.
