Apple's Top iPhone and Watch Designer to Depart in February: Report

Tang Tan, Vice President of Product Design at Apple, is leaving the company in February. Tan reports to John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, and his departure is seen as a significant loss for the company. Several deputies to Ternus and Tan are being given expanded roles as part of the changes. Richard Dinh, Tan's top lieutenant and head of iPhone product design, is being elevated to report directly to Ternus. Additionally, Kate Bergeron, a hardware engineering executive responsible for Mac teams, is taking over the design of the Apple Watch. The departures of Tan and another key figure, Steve Hotelling, are being described as a "blow" to Apple.
